Technically, aquaculture production itself would be result of various input in the aquaculture system namely feeding, water use, culture techniques and also rearing of the cultured species. What maybe the downward of aquaculture is that aquaculturist themselves would not easily generalize the same technique for different species such as fish, shrimp or shellfish. Even in a fin fish culture, variety of techniques will be applied regarding to species specific techniques.
Despite of its variability in nature, aquaculture should be much more profitable than agriculture and livestock business. Reasons to answer is that aquaculture pose a higher density of culture organisms compared terrestrially cultured organisms. Although conditions apply such as keeping the water parameters suitable. Many countries also have their view in water usage thus techniques develops towards recirculating water for culture.
Investments in aquaculture should be rewarding if species cultured is in high demand. The big picture would be that countries in the world have their own demand in fish products and could not rely solely on wild catch. Overfishing is one cause of population depletion and a solution would be aquaculture.
Aquaculture investments demand on keen judgement of technical issues since a variety of discipline in the aquaculture field would be applied. It would be wise to gather a team with wide knowledge in water quality, civil engineering and lastly aquaculture production to build a prosperous investment.
